The European Union finalized a comprehensive trade agreement with ASEAN, creating one of the world’s largest free trade zones.

The deal eliminates tariffs on 95% of goods traded between the two regions and establishes common standards for digital commerce, intellectual property, and labor practices.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called it “a milestone for rules-based trade in the Indo-Pacific region.”
